Bodegas El Lomo began its journey in 1989 as part of Mr. Félix Rodríguez's deep respect for this land and his dream of producing a quality wine from Canarian varietals in a valley with an ancient wine-growing tradition: Tegueste. During all these years, a clear goal has been pursued, which was to value the production of great Canarian wines from the Canary Islands, and in this endeavor a benchmark brand has been built within the sector.

At the same time, the world of wine has been developing, growing exponentially in all areas, from the production to the presentation of wines, all aimed at responding to an increasingly broad, diverse and demanding group of consumers that has been setting the standard for innovation as an essential requirement for brand competitiveness.

Bodegas El Lomo picked up the witness and proposed, in 2017, a profound reinterpretation of the brand that reached all areas of the company; from the soul of our wines, with the incorporation of one of the most renowned winemakers in the world Alberto González Plasencia (awarded as the second best winemaker in Spain and the tenth best winemaker in the world in the Master Wine Challenge in 2015) passing through a completely renovated and of course due to the revision of the business model that as the most visible exponent concentrates its distribution in the hands of Excelsia Canarias Vinos y Destilados del Grupo Torres. These would be the main milestones that are necessarily accompanied by many more aimed at consolidating a key brand in the history of the wine sector in the Canary archipelago. All this sets the standard to follow from Bodegas El Lomo in the face of a new time and opens what we consider: Bodegas El Lomo ACT II.

The winery has four vineyards in the municipality of Tegueste. The two main farms are the farm that surrounds the winery, one of the most emblematic given its centuries-old history, it sits on a volcanic fault open to the sea with a difference in elevation between terraces of more than 100m. It has three hectares cultivated on trellises, in 2019 12,000 new vines of native varieties were replanted. The other large estate of the winery, called El Fidein or Las Peñuelas, occupies more than 6 hectares. Most of it is cultivated in open Lira, the rest has recently been reconverted, passing from the so-called traditional trawl system to trellis. The lira system has been introduced in order to increase the exposed leaf surface, also to increase planting density, increasing competition between plants, which decreases vigor and increases the quality of the grapes produced. The age of the vineyard ranges between 40 years and the year of the recently converted. As it is a territory free of phylloxera, the vine plants are introduced directly into the ground, without grafting. This allows a greater longevity of the plants and a peculiar palate of the wines.
