It is long and pleasant and has a round finish.
Faint pale pink colour.
Elegant touches of red and fresh fruit -raspberry and strawberry-.
The grape used, the most cultivated variety in the area, grows about 750 meters above sea level and has a north-south orientation. The soils are mainly rocky and limestone and the vines -whose density is 1,600 per hectare- are about three decades old.
The vineyard is treated with a type of short pruning and is cultivated by goblet training. The harvested grains, after being transported to the winery facilities, are first pressed directly. Subsequently, and without macerating, the grapes ferment at a controlled temperature of 16º. Castaño Rosado, which is not aged, is bottled after being cold stabilized.
Castaño is a pioneering winery of the D.O. Yecla: In 1985, when the trend was to make bulk wines, the project decided to start selling bottled wine. Castaño is enormously successful abroad, suffice it to say that 90% of its production is destined for export.
