It is a reserve with a classic profile, made entirely with Tempranillo and expressed with notes of ripe fruit, spices and toasts, with great balance, well-integrated acidity and a broad and fruity finish. View: Cherry red color covered with violet reflections.
Nose: Aromas with good intensity, black, spicy, toasted fruit and a mineral background that gives complexity to the wine in this phase.
Mouth: Balanced, tasty and with good structure. Very well integrated acidity that provides freshness and a wide finish with a fruity character.
Description: Small plots arranged on terraces located on the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria, in the towns of Briñas (Rioja Alta) and Labastida (Rioja Alavesa). Vineyards located at an altitude of between 450 and 550 meters.
Age: 65 years.
Soil: Very poor clay-calcareous. Continental weather. 2013 was a complicated vintage. Very rainy and cool weather. It took a long time for the grapes to ripen and the harvest was delayed, eventually botrytis problems appeared. In Tobelos a lot of work was done in the field and a strict selection in the plot and in the winery.
Harvest: Manual harvest in boxes on October 10, 2013.
Vinification: Grapes completely destemmed without crushing. Cold pre-fermentation maceration. Alcoholic fermentation at low temperature in small concrete tanks and subsequent malolactic fermentation in them.
Aging: Aged for 20 months in French and American oak barrels. It carries out aging in the bottle for several months.
Bottling: Bottled in September 2016.
