The grapes with which this wine is made come from the Finca Valiñas, a place where the Albariño obtains its best expression. A very aromatic Galician white with which Paula Fandiño, the winemaker of the house, seeks 'the mineral and saline profile of the most special terroir of Mar de Frades'.
Nose: Aroma of ripe fruit, citrus, toilet herbs and 'brioche' from its fine lees.
Mouth: Tasty and structured. Long white with good acidity.
Name: Finca Valiñas.
Description: Vineyards with vines located 127 meters above sea level.
Area: 2.2 hectares.
Age: Vines planted in 1975.
Soil: Sandstone and granite, with great drainage capacity.
Climate: Continental Atlantic. Unusually in this 2016 harvest, in this area of the Atlantic coast, the autumn months presented high temperatures and very little rain. The cold came in winter, with a single night of frost, and the rains in spring were strong and weak. The summer had continuous sunny days and heat that gave rise to a ripening of fresh and aromatic fruits.
Yield: 4,700 kilograms per hectare.
Harvest: The manual harvest was carried out on September 6. The first selection took place in the field, the second, on the selection table to ensure the degree of maturation.
Vinification: Maceration in Gaminedes tanks, without adding sulphites, from 36 to 40 hours and at temperatures between 10 and 14 ºC to extract the most saline essence. Fermentation exclusively in stainless steel tanks.
