Camino de Magarín is the flagship wine of Bodega Magarín, owned by the Torres en Rueda family whose name refers to the path that ascends from the Duero River to the winery. The work of winemaker Juan Ramón García, this select wine is the result of a laborious process that begins with a meticulous selection of plots and intense work in the vineyard. The grapes come mainly from vines between 10 and 15 years old that grow in clayey gravel soils and boulders, characteristic of the Rueda vineyards, and is complemented by a small percentage of old vines to give the wine greater complexity.

Sophisticated production process

If the wine is classic in terms of work in the vineyard, it is innovative in terms of its production by combining three different winemaking techniques. The grapes ferment in concrete eggs, stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. Each type of fermentation provides different characteristics to the wine: the concrete gives it an unctuousness; stainless steel enhances the variety and exalts its freshness, and French oak provides complexity and structure. For four months, the wine rests on its lees in the different tanks before proceeding to its assemblage.

According to winemaker Juan Ramón García, “Camino de Magarín is a new way of working. For two years, we have dedicated ourselves to identifying the best plots and testing different types of production, different types of deposits, different ways of working the grapes. It has been a laborious work that has given excellent results”. Camino de Magarín is a silky and full-bodied wine, very aromatic and with great aging potential. It seduces especially in the mouth, very wide and appetizing, with a slightly bitter nuance at the end that underlines its personality. The first vintage, 2015, was marked by one of the hottest summers in history, which favored a good ripening of the grapes but caused a drop in production. Land of wines with noble tradition The long noble tradition of Castile and the beauty of the landscape are shown on the label of this Rueda as a tribute to this ancient wine land. The drawing captures the bucolic landscape that surrounds the estate, with the meanders of the Duero River, the Verdejo vineyards and the Magarín path, which leads from the river to the winery. The coat of arms of Villafranca del Duero (Valladolid), where the winery is located, crowns the label as a symbol of the noble legacy of the region.

Specifically, Bodega Magarín is located in the westernmost area of the DO Rueda, on the left bank of the Duero River. Surrounded by 20 hectares of its own vineyard, it focuses on the production of quality autochthonous wines that represent all the character of the variety and typicity of the area. This winery project, which combines tradition, innovation and commitment to quality, is backed by the work, passion and technical knowledge of a team led by Juan Ramón García, linked to Torres for twelve years.
