Vernaccia di San Gimignano is vinified from the Vernaccia grape variety, which has been mentioned in documents since the High Middle Ages and was the first to obtain the DOC designation of origin in 1966 and the DOCG as early as 1993. It grows exclusively in the hills that surround San Gimignano, the city of a thousand towers, in the heart of Tuscany. The objective of the Teruzzi winery when it was founded was to re-introduce this ancient native grape variety internationally.
The grapes are harvested manually and gently pressed before being fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts.
