It is a complex wine with aromas of blackberry, licorice and clove background.
On the palate it is tasty and persistent with hints of plum, balsamic and minerals.
Officially, the Ramón Bilbao winery was founded in 1924, however its first wine was already sold in 1896 in the streets of Haro (Rioja Alta). Since 1999 it belongs to the Diego Zamora Group, to which is added the incorporation of the winemaker Rodolfo Bastida. At present, Ramón Bilbao wines offer a diversity of styles. On the one hand, we find the traditional Rioja wines and on the other, others of a more modern and international nature. The Ramón Bilbao Reserva Original grape comes from two of the best vineyards in the winery.
Vines over 70 years old and planted at 650 meters above sea level. Traditional agriculture is practiced and it is sold at the optimum moment of maturation. At the Ramón Bilbao Reserva Original winery, it undergoes cold pre-fermentation maceration. It is destemmed with daily pumping over and fermented in wooden vats at a controlled temperature of 28ºC. The wine is aged for 20 months in French oak barrels.
