A complex, powerful and deep red wine.
Magnificent vintage for this wine that shows us a perfect balance between maturity and freshness.
On the nose, the aromas of ripe red fruit stand out, with spicy and roasted notes from the ageing. In the mouth it is intense, with a voluminous, wide and very distinguished mid-palate. The end is eternal.
Grans Muralles is an estate wine made by Torres in the D.O. Conca de Barberà.
Its name, Great Walls, takes its name from the farm where the grapes come from, a very special farm. A small estate located right at the foot of the walls of the monastery of Poblet, which began to be cultivated in the thirteenth century when it was planted by Cistercian monks.
The soil of the farm is a soil of licorella, slate, and gravel. Grans Muralles is a complex coupage of Catalan indigenous varieties, some of them such as Garró or Querol that have practically disappeared for centuries and are now being recovered by Torres' team of viticulturists. It took several DNA tests to locate these varieties among abandoned pre-phylloxera strains.
Grans Muralles is aged in new French oak barrels (Nevers and Allier) for 18 months. A very special wine. For its history, for its medieval spirit, for its unusual varieties and thus recognized for all the awards won throughout its vintages. From Parker high scores to Decanter Gold Medals.
