At the foot of the majestic Mount Teide, heading towards the sea, lies the Orotava Valley. Historically, this zone was the first to be used for cultivation on the island and in the heart of this valley is situated The Valleoro Wine Cellar, which opened in 1995.
On visiting the Wine Cellar, we can see the impressive infrastructure as well as the modern techniques used for wine production. These include the pneumatic grape press, steel barrels with a capacity of 1.000.000 litres, refrigeration systems and temperature controls used during fermentation, vacuum filtration, microfiltration systems and the conveyer belt used for bottling with a capacity of 2.000 bottles an hour.
The barrels made made of steel and american oak will surely catch your eye. These barrels have a capacity of 225 litres and they are changed every two years in order to maintain the lovely woody aroma that is contributed to the wine
