Figuero, or Tinto Figuero, is the example of the experience of generations, of hard work and perseverance in lands of Ribera del Duero. Their wines are currently recognised in more than 25 countries around the world. In the winery, everything is shiny, new, aseptic, functional. It is bioclimatic, designed to work by gravity, with selection tables for bunches and grapes, and it has the most modern oenological techniques. Its warmest spot is found in its spectacular ageing room, that houses a stock of 1,000 American and French oak barrels.
The Tempranillo clone in the García Figuero family vines comes from cuttings taken from pre-phylloxera vines, thanks to the French religious order which arrived in La Horra in 1908. After the terrible phylloxera plague between 1912 and 1920, they redoubled their efforts to replanting the vines in La Horra with the best vines that were already perfectly adapted to the rigorous climate of the area
In the following years, the García family and the Figuero family continued to plant vines using the same system. Later on, José María selected plots which produced the best grapes. Thanks to the “fruits of a lifetime of hard work,” today Garcia Figuero enjoys the selection of grapes from 21 plots of vineyards with vines over 60 years old.
